There he was, in the glare of the spotlight, behind the great resolute desk (for a change, without his shoes propped up), delivering his first Oval Office speech, attempting to project a demeanor of calm and competence and leadership.
Except I couldn't help but think he looked like a cockroach dressed as a used car salesman desperate for a sale, trying to con the American people into thinking that he was kicking my ass, so he could skitter safely back into his crack in the wall after the camera went dark.
Now, I’m just a spill, I’m only a spill. My vision is somewhat distorted, what with some of me evaporating or being eaten by bacteria while the heavy, gloppy rest of me congeals in a sticky mess that slathers your shores with toxic waste that is harder to clean up than an Al Gore affair.
And yet, to me, BO looked as if he were a crack addict on a six-week binge selling a pipe dream, long past being able to seize control of all the oil I'm spewing into the Gulf but damned if he wasn't going to toss enough words out there and hope they made you forget about me. BO was angry about me, and the position in which I'd put him, but he was as helpless in front of that camera as a newborn with a soiled diaper. And, sitting behind that desk, he probably had one, too.
He even said it himself, his head barely poking out of my oily sheen: I don't know what caused this, I don't know how we're going to fix this, but we’ve got to do something.
Oh, sure, he took action: He hired an Oil Spill Czar, one former Justice Department official Michael Bromwich, a guy so qualified he has no significant experience with oil and gas issues, but OH! is he an ass kicker.
Yes, there BO was, on Day 57, showing decisive action, pledging to exhaust every idea, like suddenly embracing the Dutch offer to send skimmers to pick up my oil, after declining it way back when I started gushing, back when BO KNEW, just days after I was born, that I could be his Titanic.
Yes, there BO was, after nearly 2 months of disaster, giving the speech he should have delivered in April. There he was, telling you he would refuse to accept inaction, except when he has a tee time.
Not that BO doesn't have a plan. He’s going to plug my damn hole by completely ignoring me. To BO action means getting Congresscriminals off their duffs to finally deliver him a Cap-and-Tax bill he can be proud of.
I have to hand it to the Thinker in Chief, though … his plan really shows how you’ll tackle your dependence on foreign oil. I mean, with the moratorium on deep water drilling in the Gulf, the Bay of Rigs will suddenly become the Bay of Wind Turbines and Solar Panels and Efficient Cars and Homes. Meanwhile, investing your tax dollars in the development of clean energy technology will make all that oil slaking your coastline disappear before your very eyes!
After all, who needs those deep water oil rigs anyway? They can all move to Brazil, taking with them the 40,000 people who work on them, putting the hundreds of thousands of people back on the mainland who depend on them out of work. That’s a jobs jobs jobs bill right there, if I ever saw one.
To you, last night, BO was saying: “I don't have all the facts, but I think Oil Spill acted stupidly ... so I’m going to take advantage of this crisis to fulfill my destiny” … as America’s worst president ever.
Contrast BO’s words words words with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal. While BO rolls up his sleeves to eat snowcones, Jindal, meanwhile, wades into the mud, building barrier islands to stop my flow from reaching precious estuaries, doing BO’s job for him, just like Jan Brewer.
Pretenders talk, leaders walk.
Yes, all I saw last night was a man shriveling inside a pressure cooker. His cheerleaders on MSNBC saw it too, retaliating with pouty recriminations from one guy who normally would murder his own mother to defend BO and another who used to get tingles upon hearing His voice.
They just couldn’t understand why BO hasn't been able to stand on the shores of the Gulf, lift his arms in the air, and summon all of his otherworldly powers to part my oil from His water.
That's because he can't. Even after he meets today with my boss and feigns kicking BP's ass, after all of the empty rhetoric, the fact remains that His response to me makes Bush's response to Katrina look, well, like people from NOLA think Bush did a far better job than Obama is doing.
And that isn't going to change because everything really comes down to this. Obviously, I am still kicking BO’s ass -- 1.5 million gallons at a time.

how would things be different under bush, or any other president democrat or republican?
ReplyDeletewhat would you actually have obama do differently?
would you argue for a larger federal government and more oversight and regulation to lessen the number of spills and mitigate their effects in the future?
curious.
Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteEasy: Bush would have had Dick Cheney scare my ass back into the earth.
The year is 2010. Bush hasn't been president since 2008. Change the battery in your clock and join real time.
Hour after hour, hour after hour,
I gush, with unquenchable devotion;
As idle BO takes golfing tours
Without care or sensible notion.
Oil, oil, everywhere,
And all the Regime did shrink;
Oil, oil, everywhere,
As their futures began to sink.
what would you actually have obama do differently?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: I would have BO dress in his Superman uniform and fly down here and plug my damn hole himself.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous, while we don't know what would have worked, Bush would have pulled out all the stops. He would have gathered every resource, and he would have worked at it non-stop until it became apparent that there is nothing to be done, if that is the case.
ReplyDeleteBush would have called in private enterprise from all over the world, because this could be a world changing event. He would have been in his office, ready to talk to all who had ideas.
He would not have wasted American's time with threats to BP, until the time was right to do so.
The point is, we don't know what should have been done, or could have been done, because nothing was tried, or even considered. We have dispersants - only one "brand." It took forever to get a few booms down there. There was no avenue given to Jindahl. A simple sand berm was even denied.
Here is how Obama organized his community: he sent poor women and their many children, in the Chicago ghettos to the state legislature and city hall to bully them into more aid, more child welfare, more housing...to bully over and over and over, until the welfare was achieved. A little mischief at the ballot box helped the cause, also.
Obama can't achieve anything, unless he can do it by bullying. It won't work with this oil spill, because as Spill says...he is in charge.
We haven't begun to see the end of this. Oil Spill will have plenty of interesting stories for us, because this President is incompetent, AND he hates private enterprise.
You are doing a great job, Oil Spill.....I see BO's #'s have tanked even further. I know you are busy ruining his gig, When you want a laugh, read all my live tweeting posts, you'll laugh.
ReplyDeleteCarry on.....You are gonna force obummer to take another long vacation very soon.
@Maggie Thornton
ReplyDeletewhat would you actually have obama do differently?
@Maggie ... It would appear anonymous doesn't understand your initial response, lacking the basic common sense to divine that what you say Bush would have done (and I agree, though I'm just a spill, I'm only a spill) you would have BO do.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous ... Does that translation satisfy you, or would you prefer to continue deflecting the truth being shoved down your throat? Sheesh. I'm an oil spill, and even I'm not dumb enough to have missed that.
I'll tell you what. Give me your address and I'll come slime your environment next.
Mr. Spill, your match against the Golden Pantload is like pitting a heavy weight against a feather weight. The stupid bafoon doesn't stand a chance.
ReplyDeletewell, this is of course a cheap political gimmick that avoids all serious rational thought and dialogue on the spill and its ramifications. which sounds exactly what the conservatives have been pushing on all fronts since day one of president obama's term.
ReplyDeleteit's a shame there isn't more critical thought coming from the conservatives.
one would think this might make the less-gov't is better-gov't crowd examine such faith based ideologies.
would they still argue for a smaller federal government and less oversight and regulation of private industry in the face of all this? it seems like that would compound future incidents, hamper response and leave everything even worse than it is today.
but no. rather then careful introspection, we get "obama is wrong and it's all his fault and he deserves all the blame. certainly not private industry! drill baby drill!"
curious.
Actually, its less of a matter of what I'd ask Bush to differently than what I'd ask Libs and/or the media to differently. Obama gets a free pass, with some lip-service "oh my, he needs to really kick some ass" comments. Bush gets called a racist who hates black people. On 9/11, bush got dinged for waiting 4 minutes to show the world that we don't jump through hoops for them (ie., he finished reading the story in the classroom). Obama waits 65 days and then makes a dumb speech. So sit back and relax while we nail yer guy for a while. Enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteMaggie made total sense to me, but then, I'm not a kool aid drinker. :/
ReplyDeleteNo, Anonymous ... if you can't read what Maggie just wrote, the Oil Spill can't help you. She already said everything I would, and more.
ReplyDeleteAll you're doing is steering the conversation from what BO hasn't done, to what Bush would have done, which is immmaterial and, frankly, juvenile. But that's what we can expect from the followers of Saul Alinsky: Let's try to have a "debate," when what you really want to do is obfuscate the reality of your failed Messiah.
But then again, I'm just a spill, yes, I'm only a spill.
@Candle ... on 9/11, Bush spoke to the nation that night about the grave circumstances we faced.
ReplyDeleteObama waited 57 days, until it was beyond politically necessary, to speak to the nation. He looked small, he looked tired, and he looked like I was sloshing down his throat. Which I am.
"Obama waited 57 days, "
ReplyDeletethat is factually incorrect. Obama has addressed it many, many times in many many settings.
so you only count an evening presidential address when it suits you?
some people have problems with facts.
@Amusing Bunni: it would almost seem like most obama's detractors are actually hoping the environmental carnage and resulting loss of jobs in the area continues!!!
ReplyDeleteway to be patriotic. what great Americans you all are.
@Anonymous. Aye, Alinskite trolls need help with stubborn facts.
ReplyDeleteNational addresses from the Oval Office are typically rare and done for matters of grave national concern.
Reagan: The night of the Challenger disaster.
W: The night of 9/11.
Obama: Day 57 of the biggest environmental disaster in our history, during a time when the nation could least afford the economic hit to the Gulf Coast, to the people who depend on the Gulf, to the tourism industry, to the etc. etc. etc.
On Day 57 when he knew during the first week that BP had no way to contain the spill, that it could leak on and on for years, that it could become an albatross.
Instead, he took on Jan Brewer, he took on Wall Street, he took on Cap and Trade, with lie after lie after lie ... while the Gulf died.
And he golfed and had date night and took vacation and had music night(s) and golfed and ate shrimp and golfed and put down Israel and golfed.
And never once did he lead ... lead, anonymong, you know ... stand up and take the hits with class and aplomb and provide strong direction and appropriate response. He blamed and blamed and blamed, as the Blamer in Chief always does.
One would think if Obama took to plugging my damn hole with the same vigor he took to try to secure the Olympics for Chicago, he might have had a lesser disaster on his hands. But that's our BO, all pomp(ousness) and show.
BTW ... how's Ashburn, Virginia, these days? Weather warm? I bet it could use some oil.
@Anonymous ... If you don't think this blog cares about what's happening, you're even dumber than the Oil Spill thought.
ReplyDeleteHey, I know. I bet you went to public school, and I'll bet you're a unionized government employee.
"you are doing a great job, Oil Spill.....I see BO's #'s have tanked even further. I know you are busy ruining his gig ... Carry on.....You are gonna force obummer to take another long vacation very soon."
ReplyDeletewhat a patriot! what great Americans you all are.
lol.
@Anonymous It takes the lotion from the basket and rubs it on its skin.
ReplyDelete"Hey, I know. I bet you went to public school, and I'll bet you're a unionized government employee. "
ReplyDeletenice ad hominem, pretty much all i expected from you. but false on all counts, lol.
@Anonymous ... My oh my, you just don't see the humor in anything, do you?
ReplyDeleteGiven that your Reddit name is Asshat007 and that you continue to sniff around my back hole, I pretty much expected you to ignore all of these points in our "debate," so I'll remind you again:
Aye, Alinskite trolls need help with stubborn facts.

"Pretenders talk, leaders walk."
ReplyDeleteSays it all, especially when you compare the "vuvuzela-wind-powered" President Obama against the "actions" of Governor Bobby Jindal. It's "talk vs walk".
To the ANONYMOUS TROLL-
I say...a real leader, or person worried about the welfare of it's citizens and the ecosystem, would do the kinds of things like Governor Jindal is doing...seeking containment of the spill, first and foremost! Actions speak louder than words. Speaking of actions...what were Obama's early reactions to the oil spill? I heard from the MSM that he was on it from Day #1...but not see or hear that from President Obama himself. Why...the very first actions of the Obama administration were to send in Eric Holder's A-Team of 1st responders (a bunch of f@#king lawyers). All the while, Governor Jindal was requesting assistance from Washington. Assistance which fell on some VERY BIG-ASS DEAF EARS!!! Now, after more than a month later, President Obama gives the tough talk about kickin' ass. I heard the President's speech last night...it didn't sound like Obama's words were gonna do anything to quicken containment of the oil spill. It sounded like it was going to harm a lot of people on the Gulf Coast, not stop the leak. How screwed up, counterproductive, and incompetent is that? Gladly I would back any leader, REGARDLESS of political party, who provides honest solutions with positive actions that address the "immediate problem" at hand. ONLY later...after the immediate problem is solved...then you can do all the "ass-kicking" with investigators, lawyers, and finger pointing politicians that your little heart desires.
Get my drift, Mr Anonymous? Probably not.
"things like Governor Jindal is doing...seeking containment of the spill, first and foremost! "
ReplyDeletewhat exactly has Jindal done (besides be a member of the republican party)?
@Anonymous Boy, do you have a serious reading comprehension problem. Jindal's deeds:
ReplyDeleteOrder the national guard to build barriers to keep the oil from hit Louisiana further, something he's been bugging BO to do (you know, protect our border, the president's job) since "day 1"
Even your own Fluffington Toast thinks Jindal looks better than the president on this: "Bobby Jindal Response to Gulf Oil Spill Could Restore Status In GOP"
You might want to trying typing "jindal oil spill" into your search engine. I know it's a hard concept for an Asshat such as yourself, but ... you might just educate yourself. If that's at all possible.
BTW, @Anonymous: Still waiting for a response from you on this....
ReplyDeleteGiven that your Reddit name is Asshat007 and that you continue to sniff around my back hole, I pretty much expected you to ignore all of these points in our "debate," so I'll remind you again:

obama ordered all fed agencies to treat the spill as top priority.
ReplyDelete...this was hours after the spill
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article7105935.ece
long story short:
ReplyDeleteyou can criticize obama for a lackluster federal response. which implicitly means you support a bigger federal government, that exercises more restrictions and regulations over private industry.
-or-
you can say, "hey, this is the free market"... by the federal government getting involved, it is tantamount to a taxpayer bailout of BP, the worlds fourth largest corporation"
-but-
you *cannot* complain about a tepid federal response while concurrently pushing for a smaller federal government, lower taxes, and less regulation. that is an inherent logical contradiction.
And all the federal agencies BO ordered to treat me as a top responsibility sat around for weeks and weeks, wondering just what to do about me ... as I spewed and spewed and spewed.
ReplyDeleteAnd, actually, the bottom line is this: If so much of GDP wasn't spent on untouchable social programs designed to keep your friends voting as Democrats for generations, the federal government would have plenty of resources to fight disasters like me, even with lower taxes and smaller government.
But why should I explain how the Constitution and the economy work to you, when you obviously haven't a clue as to what "big government" means to a conservative?
Furthermore, since you keep pulling me away from earning a living with your constant trolling, I'm wondering if you'd like me to publish your employer's address here. Better yet, maybe I'll just go ahead and give them a call.
I'm just a spill, yes, I'm only a spill ... and I'm bearing down on Capitol Hill ... and Ashburn, Virginia.
ReplyDeleteBO is the pussy-in-chief. He shrinks when it comes to dealing with a challenge. This is another example of BO's administration not letting a crisis go to waste. He is politically motivated to expand his radical agenda of Cap & Trade but has shown that he doesn't give a shit about cleaning up the oil spill in the Gulf. He has shown where his priorities are: playing golf, basketball, concerts galore and doing everything else but focusing on the nation's largest environmental disaster in history. And, disasters happen because of too many government regulations and people like Anon and enviro-Nazis who forced this rig to drill in deep waters offshore which is more dangerous than drilling on land or in shallow waters.
ReplyDeleteSpill, I'm enjoying your blog. I found it from a comment you left with Michelle's Mirror You are kicking the Disaster in Chief's ass, but that's not too difficult since he doesn't know the difference between Gulf and golf. And I see you have a pet troll! You must be doing something right to get one.
ReplyDeleteAnon: Your logic skills are atrocious. The particular logical fallacy you just soiled this blog with is known as a false dichotomy.
ReplyDeleteProtecting our coastline and other national assets is a constitutionally-mandated responsibility, and it doesn't require a "big government," just a competent one.
Obama, as president can cut through the red tape and order agencies to take days instead of weeks to make decisions and rulings. He did none of that, but what should we expect from someone with no experience whatsoever.
Hi Again Spill! I see you have a slimy troll who is defiling your lovely blog, and making crazy comments to us.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't waste my time responding to morons, but in this case, I'll make an exception:
To the ANONYMOUS TROLL-
Get a clue, you big scardy baby, THIS BLOG IS CALLED SATIRE!
Go back to sucking on your dear leaders (fill in the blank) and
don't make stupid comments about things you don't know about.
I think people have wasted too much time on you anyway.....but
some of my pals here like to try and make morons see the light.
I say "why bother". So go crawl back into your hole now. ta ta.
Oily, you must have scared troll boy away with the last comment about the employer...
ReplyDeleteSomebody must have something to hide.
By the way, don't you think it is time to quit blowing your load...I am kind of tired of your goo all over the place!
Pretenders talk, leaders walk...love it bro!:)
ReplyDelete"They just couldn’t understand why BO hasn't been able to stand on the shores of the Gulf, lift his arms in the air, and summon all of his otherworldly powers to part my oil from His water."
ReplyDeleteYeah, remember he was going to calm the seas, remember the idiots with tears streaming down their eyes at the mere sight of barack! What a waste of space he turned out to be.
What BO ought to be doing is humbly admitting that he can't handle the job, its not what he thought it would be, he can't fix a damn thing, he's sorry for leading people on and offering his resignation.
But we know he won't, so he'll sit there in his soiled diapers blundering and bumbling away until the voters send him packing.
I think the anonymous troll is actually the big Eyjafjallajokull Volcano eruption and is really, really jealous that you are getting all of the attention.
ReplyDeleteVolcanoes blow, don't they?
You are to BO what the hostages were to Carter. I just can't wait to see what crazy plans he has to fight you. I'll bet one of them, is freezing you.
ReplyDeleteNice try BO. Trolling blogs in your spare time. I thought you paid people to do it. Spill driving you daffy? You ain't seen nothing yet.
ReplyDelete@Asshat annonymous:
ReplyDeleteDo you know anything about the Exxon Valdez oil spill? Do a google search... the reactions of the first Bush administration regarding the Exxon Valdez accident are illuminating.
Since you have a problem with comprehension when it comes to that quisling in the White House... you need a foreigner to spell it out for you....
Oil spills happen. It is a fact of life, and especially when ships run aground. Only recently it happened again near the Great Barrier Reef. The response to that spill was immediate, and the damage was minimal....
So what could your little boy quisling have done? Let me give you some idea of what should have been done:
1. waive or suspend the Jones act to allow foreign nations to help with the containment of the spill. (this was not done... and from what I have read it has still not been done... whereas GWB did it immediately after Katrina)
2. accept all offers of help from other nations, especially the Dutch who have the means to assist with the containment of the oil spill.... this help was rejected when offer was first made... only within last few weeks did BP go crawling for assistance.
3. Seek out all sources of boom and ensure that everything available was sent to the location of the oil spill... rather than leaving boom sitting in warehouses, and not taking up a source of supply....
4. Homeland Security should have sourced all equipment being held by Govt in case of this type of emergency.... this was not done for several weeks.
5. Given permission for fire to be lit on the oil when it first surfaced.... not done.
6. Waived the requirement for an environmental impact study that held up the sand berms requested by Governor Jindal.
This is only a partial list of all of the things that were not done, which could or should have been done in a timely fashion. One of the most disgusting efforts was the head of the Army Corps of Engineers who would not get out of his own way to allow the sand berms to be built... the time wasted was critical for the wildlife.
This I am afraid is the difference between the libtard environmentals who are in fact do-nothings who have their own agenda, and those who have no agenda but go and get the job done... the libtards lose every time and they do make matters worse... just like Mayor Nagin made matters worse during Katrina by not ensuring that people left the city on those school buses.....
So as far as your boy Barry is concerned, the dumb schmuck should have been the co-ordinator of the operation... instead he played golf, attended parties, went on vacation, anything rather than take control of the situation... amateurs are in charge.
Spill, you need some troll music... I recommend "In the Hall of the Mountain king".
ReplyDeletep.s. I love your blog and comments. Too funny.
p.p.s I am Australian. This oil spill matters no matter where we live.
Jesus prison showering Christ is it that hard to understand???
ReplyDeleteBarry forced drilling in unsafe conditions instead of on land or in the shallows.
His corrupt administration got bought off by BP, gave them a pass on environmental requirements, and sat on information they got on DAY FUCKING ONE.
Barry the indonesian foreign exchange student* is responsible for this catastrophe.
*proven fact from Occidental College records released under court order.
I got sick of waiting for hours after the meeting yesterday for Obama to come out and make his lame statement.
ReplyDeleteTwo hours after he was supposed to say something, I turned off my radio.
Maybe BO was tired after all of the ass kicking. Ha!
*Sings* "Where have all the good trolls gone..."
ReplyDeleteThat was pathetic. Asshat-- a perfect appellation.
Hey SpiLl - way to smack down an Alinsky troll. A couple of "Just Can't Let Obama Go Yet" trolls tried to engage me in a lively Bush blaming session today. Only it wasn't W they were getting all worked up over. According to these particular trolls it was Jeb that caused you! Their ranting was so insane and void of reason they might as well blame Jenna or Barbara. I knew the trolls would discover you and try to take you down -(and soon govt internet con-trolls might do just that) so stay strong Spill! Keep destroying BO and the trolls!
ReplyDelete@rlesuer: Jeb Bush? He is not even Governor of Florida!!
ReplyDeleteI suspect the trolls have had their orders from either OFA or DNC to discredit Jeb Bush because his name has begun to be floated for 2012.
How ridiculous. They cannot win. There is one person and his team that has made all the bad decisions that has allowed OilSpill to become so powerful....
@Maggie - Yep - nothing like trolls from Planet Libtard! Jeb is the one... It was so ridiculous and exhausting I can't even remember their talking points. I'm pretty sure it ended with one shreiking "Halliburton!!!!" at me. It's almost like the trolls have their own language.
ReplyDeleteBTW - The folks in Nashville/MID TN are still anxiously awaiting BO (or his given initials BS -equally fitting!) to "address" us or come on down for a photo op after the Flood we had here in May (besides Spill - turning out to be one of the largest non-hurricane natural disasters in this nation's history) Bet those folks in Ohio with the recent tornados and the victims of the horrific flash flooding in Oklahoma last week are still waiting patiently to touch the hem of his garment (Newsweek's troll Evan Thomas: "he's sort of like a God - standing above the country..."). I don't expect the Troll-In-Chief to be bothered with all these pesky disasters that interrupt his golfing and concerts - but you would think his handler trolls would at least be savvy enough not to just keep allowing photo op after photo op of our Troll-In-Chief as Nero "fiddling while Rome burns"...
Damn it, I've been in the shop and missed all of the fun. You guys were too easy on the little troll from ASHBURN, VIRGINIA. Don't you just love Site Meter?
ReplyDelete
